Deep Wells method

  • Pumps are placed at the bottom of the wells and the water is discharged through a pipe connected to the pump and run up through the well hole to a suitable discharge point.
  • They are more powerful than well points, requires a wider spacing and fewer well holes.
  • Used alone or in combination of well points.
  • When the water has to be extracted from the depth greater than 8m deep wells are used.
  • The diameter will be greater than 150mm then the well inner casing, which is turn is size to accept the submersible pumps.
  • The inner well casing has perforated screens from the bottom up to 1m, which serves as a sump for any material which passes the filter.
  • After the slotted PVC pipes are installed it is surrounded by backfill over the pipe length.

This operation will be carried out as per the General site plan prepared by Gulf Boring. We will start to close the deep well one by one as per the site situation.

Once the hydrostatic force has been overcome by the weight of the proposed structure, the deep wells shall be stopped one by one and covered with enough time to facilitate the concreting & water proofing of the raft foundation openings as per structural contractor’s design, the submersible pumps will removed from the well and all the other misc.

  • Remove the submersible pump with cables/ wires & hose from deep well.
  • Crane or JCB will be used to pull out the well screens.
  • Allow sufficient time for removal.
  • Clear the area around the Deep Well.
  • Excavate a pit around the Deep Well, deep and wide enough for working. (Approx. 1 m x 1 m x 0.6 m)
  • Cut the required length of 8” PVC screen using PVC cutter.
  • Use 8” Well air tight Plug/stopper to close the well.
  • Use final end cap to cover the screen.
  • Use water proofing membrane to cover the around the pit area.
  • Fill the area directly with concrete and covered with water proofing as per contractor design.

NON-SACRIFICIAL WELLS:
  • Remove the submersible pump with cables/ wires & hose from deep well.
  • Crane or JCB will be used to pull out the well screens.
  • Allow sufficient time for removal.
  • Crane should be taken to avoid any accident or damage of screens
  • Joint by joint unscrewing and dismantling practices to be exercised.
  • While unscrewing the joints, the balance screens should be hold/properly supported.

Deep well Dewatering System Closing/Dismantling:

This operation will be carried out as per the General site plan prepared by Gulf Boring. We will start to close the deep well one by one as per the site situation.
